University of Arkansas Community College at Hope

University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana (UAHT) is a two-year community college located in Hope, Arkansas and in Texarkana. It is affiliated as a division of the University of Arkansas System as a result a merger by act of the Arkansas Legislature in 1995 and is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. UACCH is an open-access institution that enrolls over 1,500 students at its 2 campuses.
UACCH was founded in 1965 as Red River Vocational-Technical School and the ground breaking ceremony for the campus was held in February 1966 by Governor Orval Faubus and state senator Olen Hendrix. In 1991 it was renamed Red River Technical College and placed under the Arkansas Department of Higher Education.〔 〕 This was done as part of a wider movement to transform Arkansas' technical schools into community colleges. In 1996, the college was renamed University of Arkansas Community College at Hope and placed as a division of the University of Arkansas System.〔 In 2015, the college changed its name to the University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana. The college offers over (forty degree and certificate programs ).
